Education Requirements:  BS Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field.
Other Requirements:  Include:

  • Must be an FSA.
  • Minimum of 8 years of actuarial experience, with 3 years in health valuation and 3 years in supervisory or management role required.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reporting.
  • Deep understanding of actuarial reserve testing.
  • Comfortable communicating results and issues to executive leadership.

Salary Range:  $180k to $220k + 25% annual bonus that can be paid out up to 200% + LTI
Description:  Our Client provides health and life insurance, as well as retirement solutions, to middle-income Americans through a  family of insurance brands.  The VP, Health Valuation Actuary is responsible for Health Valuation and Projections for all of our Client’s business segments.  They will assist management with the analysis necessary to optimize financial results of this business.  Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Perform quarterly GAAP, STAT, and Tax valuations.
  • Provide management with critical analysis to support and improve the financial results of its Specified Disease, Medicare Supplement, Long Term Care and Other Accident & Health businesses for all of our Client’s business segments.
  • Prepare and take responsibility for projections for these product lines that are used to support the financial planning process, as well as GAAP recoverability analysis and statutory asset adequacy analysis.
  • Prepare and provide documentation and support for various internal and external audits and financial examinations.
  • Support management in analyzing emerging results compared to projections.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management regarding developing trends and action plans, as appropriate.
