Job Responsibilities

  • GAAP Accounting and Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies, while monitoring changes to ensure compliance.
    • Maintain the GAAP ledger and chart of accounts.
    • Track and monitor GAAP-specific items such as PGAAP, DAC amortization, and funds withheld embedded derivatives.
    • Prepare and post GAAP-specific journal entries, including Statutory to GAAP adjustments.
    • Prepare quarterly GAAP financial statements.
    • Consolidate the insurance and reinsurance accounting of the Client.
  • Statutory Accounting and Reporting:
    • Establish and monitor accounting policies for Statutory reporting.
    • Maintain the Statutory ledger and chart of accounts.
    • Post native ledger to Statutory adjustments and journal entries.
    • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory financial statements (Blue Book).
  • Closed Block Administration:
    • Book premiums, claims, and reinsurance entries.
    • Calculate and settle payments for claims reimbursements.
    • Manage relationships and operations with external vendors.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate statutory examinations and financial audits.
    • Support and manage the tax provision/return process.

Job Requirements

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in accounting.
  • Currently a Controller or in an Assistant Controller role within an Annuity company.
  • Strong can-do attitude and highly motivated approach.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage across multiple departments, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong ability to work within teams.
