Role Overview
The AVP, Actuary FP&A is responsible for the coordination of quarterly management discussions and analysis (MD&A) for internal, group, and external stakeholders. This role includes Solvency II (SII) equity variation reporting, Intrinsic Value Creation (IVC) analysis, and IFRS 17 reporting. Additionally, the AVP, Actuary FP&A job manages the Statutory and IFRS 17 forecast and planning processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the US leadership team. The AVP, Actuary FP&A will also handle regulatory actuarial deliverables related to Bermuda-based entities, including actuarial opinions and memoranda.
Key Responsibilities
Solvency II, IVC, and IFRS 17, and S&P Reporting (30%):
Prepare and deliver quarterly equity memoranda for group reporting under IFRS 17 and SII Pillar 3.
Coordinate and oversee corporate actuarial functions across FRV and consolidate results into an equity memo.
Prepare quarterly asset allocation and S&P capital reporting.
Accurately calculate and report IVC on a quarterly basis.
Regulatory Reporting for Bermuda Entities (20%):
Collaborate with accounting and ERM teams to produce the Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) for BMA-regulated entities.
Monitor BMA guidance and regulations, maintaining current knowledge of evolving requirements.
Develop actuarial opinions and memoranda for the Approved Actuary’s signature, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Conduct independent reviews and oversight of technical provision calculations to ensure accuracy.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) (40%):
Coordinate the financial forecasting and planning process with local and group teams.
Collect, document, and communicate financial result drivers to key stakeholders, including the US leadership team.
Prepare Board materials to support the US leadership in communicating business insights to the Board.
Develop and maintain consistent templates, databases, and tools to standardize financial forecasting and planning.
Ad-hoc Projects (10%):
Support Corporate Actuarial functions on various projects.
Coordinate and conduct periodic expense studies and updates to project expenses consistently across reporting and pricing.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field.
FSA designation, MAAA or equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years in insurance/reinsurance valuation.
Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
Capable of independent work with minimal supervision.
Project and resource management expertise.
Strong interpersonal skills, adept at presenting complex information.
Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in financial reporting or valuation functions.
Knowledge of IFRS, NAIC statutory, Solvency II reporting standards.
Familiarity with reinsurance structures and analysis.
Life insurance product knowledge (e.g., Term, WL, UL, ULSG).
Skilled in assessing financial statements for accuracy and reasonableness.
Experience with accounting systems and database tools.
