Summary

Our Client, a NYC-based insurance business owned by an asset manager, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Asset Management team. This role primarily involves working with the Head of Investments and focusing on:

  • General Account oversight and monitoring
  • Subadvisor relationship and data management
  • Asset allocation support
  • Reporting processes

This highly analytical position emphasizes the design and management of internal models and processes, investment oversight, and support for the CIO and Head of Investments. This Asset Management Associate job is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage internal models and investment infrastructure, including portfolio monitoring, evaluation, and asset class research.
  • Support day-to-day portfolio management by conducting strategic asset allocation reviews, optimizing portfolio construction, and analyzing asset-liability matching.
  • Oversee subadvisor relationships, including:
    • Conducting oversight calls
    • Collecting and analyzing data
    • Performing benchmark analysis
    • Preparing materials for Investment Committee reviews
    • Enhancing portfolio performance, diversification, and investment spread optimization
  • Monitor portfolio performance and develop content for:
    • Weekly Investment Committee meetings
    • Requests for proposals
    • Third-party OCIO efforts
  • Assist the Head of Investments in:
    • Selecting and overseeing subadvisors and investment vehicles
    • Managing risk and performance
    • Researching investment management strategies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in insurance portfolio management or fixed-income investing
  • Strong background in:
    • Insurance portfolio management and monitoring
    • Insurance asset/liability management
  • Proven ability to manage internal and external projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Intelligent, creative, and adept at problem-solving
  • Deep understanding of portfolio investment metrics, including fixed-income and liability-hedging
  • Expertise in Excel, Bloomberg, and PowerPoint, with the ability to:
    • Create and analyze bespoke data models
    • Develop and review detailed presentations
